Thank you for your interest in Cynthia's Massage and Bodywork!
My journey to massage therapy began five years ago when friends and family recognized my gift for massage and encouraged me to pursue it as a career. I was further drawn to massage therapy not just to help people ease their aches and pains, but also to create a calm, welcoming space for inner healing. For me, the healing power of massage lies in creating a connection with my clients and so I strive to create a space where people feel comfortable to be themselves.
I focus on working with clients whose goal is pain-free mobility, and I practice both traditional massage on the table and Thai massage on the floor (on a comfortable mat!). My style includes deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point work, joint mobilizations, and stretches.
I graduated from Johnson University in 2012 with a Bachelor's in Urban Studies. My program’s focus on intercultural studies has most benefited me in continuing to learn how to welcome those who have life experiences very different from my own. After working in the restaurant industry for 5 years, I began a massage therapy program in Asheville at the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga. This program focused on understand the mind-body connection and looking at the body holistically. Afterward I had to opportunity to continue my studies for 5 months in the school’s Extended Study program.
Since graduating, I have moved back to Knoxville to serve in my communities here. I am thankful for opportunities to work with those in my neighborhood and to continue my learning through courses in myofascial massage and Thai massage.
